In 1991, Metallica released their fifth studio album. The self-titled album became known as The Black Album due to its simple, black cover, and it featured some of the band's most well-known tracks, from "Enter Sandman" to "Nothing Else Matters".
With a change in the group's sound, The Black Album reached the top of the charts and broke sales records, remaining on Billboard's list of best-selling albums to this day . The universe of this groundbreaking project was explored in depth on the Discoteca Básica , with a special appearance by Andreas Kisser of Sepultura.
Presented by journalist and writer Ricardo Alexandre , the episode functions as an audio documentary about the album, which turns 30 this August, covering the band's background in previous projects, tensions in the studio with the hiring of Bob Rock, the difficulty of accepting the changes in the group's sound, and finally, the album's overwhelming success.
