The title track from the new album, "Electric Messiah," was made available on the NPR website.
Stoner-thrash icons High on Fire have announced they will release their first studio album since Luminiferous (2015). Electric Messiah will be their third consecutive release produced by Kurt Ballou (Converge, Kvelertak, Skeletonwitch) and is scheduled for release on October 5th via eOne.
According to frontman Matt Pike , the album and the title track were inspired by a dream he had about the late Lemmy Kilmister of Motörhead . "When Lemmy was still alive, I was always compared to him," Pike says.
“I had this dream where he was very angry with me. He argued with me and said a lot of bad things and was humiliating me,” he explains, “The song is telling me that I could never replace or be like him because Lemmy is Lemmy. I wanted to pay homage to him and the guys in the band liked the title so much that they decided to call the album Electric Messiah .”
To coincide with the album announcement, High on Fire made the track "Electric Messiah" available on NPR's website. Click here to listen.
