With recent events in the United States bringing racism to the forefront, artists of all genres have used their platform to speak out about their position. And for metal, a clarification had to be made.
Bands like High on Fire, Cavalera Conspiracy, Gatecreeper, Exhumed , Necrot , and more came together in a Tankcrime Records titled "Metal vs. Racism ," beginning with a statement from Luca Indrio of Necrot: "Welcome to Metal vs. Racism . Metal artists are tired of being associated with racism, and we're fucking fed up with it. We, the metal community, are going to show you that we don't support this shit."
From this, figures like Matt Pike from High on Fire, Eric Wagner from Gatecreeper, and Iggor Cavalera from Cavalera Conspiracy and former drummer of Sepultura , also send their messages.
