Bin Laden's gunman speaks about Hetfield
Bin Laden's anonymous gunman told the American magazine Esquire that James Hetfield contacted the American Army. According to the gunman, James asked them to stop playing Metallica during the interrogations of the prisoners.
In the interview, the shooter recounts that James said he didn't want his music to promote violence. The shooter's response was, "Dude, you have an album called Kill 'Em All.".
Following Hetfield's request, the army began using music from the Christian metal band Demon Hunter.
In 2008, Hetfield had already spoken out about the use of Metallica's music with Guantanamo prisoners. Hetfield said that the band tries to be as apolitical as possible. According to him, "For Metallica, politics and music don't mix.".
