Members speak with Wikimetal
In an interview with Wikimetal this week, Helloween founding members Michael Weikath and Markus Grosskopf spoke about the creation of their new sound, dubbed Power Metal.
Bassist Markus Grosskopf explained that the band sought a different sound, one that combined the extreme with the melodic, to differentiate themselves from other bands of the time: "We were trying to create something that would stand out among so many others .
Michael Weikath added to the answer: "We were trying to create something to get a record deal ." For both of them, a German metal band at the time needed some kind of distinguishing element.
In the interview, the members also talked about their relationship with Brazil and invited Brazilian fans to the show with Gamma Ray in December .
