In this week's Wikimetal poll, Black Sabbath was voted the best album released in April, with 38% of the vote. Judas Priest Iron Maiden " and "British Steel" , with 34% and 11% of the vote respectively.
"Heaven and Hell" was released on April 25, 1980, and is the first album with Ronnie James Dio on vocals, who joined to replace Ozzy Osbourne. Dio met Tony Iommi through Sharon Arden, Ozzy's future wife, and when they met in 1979, Dio was looking for a band and Black Sabbath was looking for a vocalist. During the first jam session between Iommi and Dio, the song " Children of the Sea" was composed, and Dio joined Black Sabbath.

The album is the band's third biggest commercial success, behind only "Paranoid" and "Master Of Reality". During the album's tour, drummer Bill Ward's problems with alcohol worsened, eventually leading him to leave the band. Vinny Apice took his place.
