HEALTH Conflict DLC , this Tuesday, the 16th, along with the music video for the single “ANTIDOTE”.
Featuring 12 high-octane industrial metal tracks, this electrifying release sees HEALTH continue exploring deep existential subtexts through a genre-bending approach. A collection of "sad bangers" for the end times, Conflict DLC finds connection in disconnection and comfort in darkness.
The band's heavy, uncompromising sound has traversed a path ranging from harsh electronic noise to full-throttle industrial pop, even reaching the somewhat ironic "cum metal" categorization of their previous album, RAT WARS — but what unites HEALTH's music is its root of depressive heaviness and maximalist aesthetic intensity. Massive riffs and booming drums fall like pebbles on the singles "ORDINARY LOSS" and "VIBE COP," while the danceable beat of "SHRED ENVY" and the melancholic impulse of "THOUGHT LEADER" demonstrate a new willingness to alternate between modes within the same track. Pop jams transition into heavy breakdowns and then into suspended atmospheres — a sonic mirror of the chaos of modern life.
Speaking about the album, vocalist Jake Duzsik explained: “It’s a strange potpourri. It’s more fun, faster, heavier and sadder all at the same time, which has a strange relationship with how life is right now… except for the fun part.”
In this new work, HEALTH wants to speak directly to its fanbase, which they describe as a "coalition of subcultures"—ranging from memelords and hardcore heavy music fans to the deliciously perverse and generally obsessed with pop culture—and, despite all the existential weight, the album was ultimately made to be enjoyed.
HEALTH will be performing in Brazil as the opening act for Pierce The Veil . They played last Sunday, December 14th, in Curitiba and this Tuesday, December 16th, in São Paulo. The last tickets are on sale at the Ticketmaster website.
