Hate Spectrum , the band of vocalist Eder Santana (ex- Gangrena Gasosa Egotrip has been made available on all digital platforms .
The material brings together previously released singles and several unreleased songs, featuring powerful lyrical themes and equally strong and energetic music. An example of this is the brutal and fast-paced "World Demise," which addresses the imminent destruction of the world at the hands of man.
Already known for their impactful lyrics, Hate Spectrum delivers songs like “Lying to Your Face,” about authoritarian, pro-gun governments and the disappearance of political victims of the dictatorship; “Promise Land” speaks of the period of inquisition and witch hunts promoted by the church; and “BYT (Bite your tongue)” is a critique of coaching, good vibes, and illusory and ineffective positivism. Other tracks with strong appeal include “A Nation Built on Blood,” which, according to Eder, is “about the discovery of Brazil and how the nation was built on the blood of slaves. It also talks about the resistance of the quilombos, Zumbi, and how this is reflected today in our daily struggle to combat racism.”.
Another highlight is the approach of “I Can't Breathe,” which, as the name suggests, is about cases of racism by the police: “It portrays the final moments of anguish of George Floyd , murdered in Minneapolis on May 25, 2020, strangled by a white police officer. The song also talks about another case of police violence that happened in Brazil: the death of Genivaldo de Jesus Santos after an encounter with Federal Highway Police (PRF) officers in the city of Umbaúba, in May of this year,” adds the vocalist and composer. It is worth remembering that this last victim was a Black man, diagnosed with schizophrenia, who was tortured and murdered by PRF officers in a kind of improvised gas chamber inside a patrol car.
The world and its reality assault us daily, and Hate Spectrum uses this as fuel to fight back and criticize atrocities and social problems. With Egotrip, the band led by Eder Santana takes heavy music to a new level. To promote the album, they will be performing a series of shows across Brazil in the coming months.
