Hank Von Hell, former lead singer of Turbonegro, dies

The former lead singer of the Norwegian death-punk band has died at the age of 49

Hank Von Hell , former vocalist of the Norwegian death-punk band Turbonegro, died last Friday, the 19th, at the age of 49.

A statement announcing his passing was released through the musician's social media accounts, but did not provide details about the cause of death. "We kindly ask for respect for the family and close friends during this time of tragedy," it read.

Von Hell was the vocalist for Turbonegro between 1993 and 2009. On their social media, the band mourned the death of their former colleague and thanked him for the time they spent together.

“As a charismatic frontman who displayed humor and vulnerability in equal measure, Hans-Erick [the singer's official name] was crucial to the band's appeal,” wrote Turbonegro. “He was warm and a big-hearted human being, a spiritually and intellectually curious person who loved talking to anyone. We are proud of what we created together as brothers in Turbonegro – the music, the characters, our entire universe.”

Rest in peace, Hank.
