The track is part of the band's fifth studio album, Back From The Dead . Released in May, the album showcases a stronger and more organized side of Halestorm, with even more weight than the group already carried. Other previous singles were the title track and "The Steeple" .

In “Wicked Ways,” vocalist Lzzy Hale performs a confessional yet comforting lyric, stating that despite her disruptive and nonconformist attitude, she is not a bad person – but she is not an angel either.
