Halestorm is back with exciting news. The band, fronted by Lzzy Hale, has released the single "Darkness Always Wins," the first release from their upcoming album, scheduled for release later this year. The album was produced by none other than Dave Cobb , renowned producer and Grammy winner. According to Lzzy, this is the "most Halestorm album the band has ever made."
On social media, guitarist Joe Hottinger shared the origin of the track:
“We wrote this song in Savannah, Georgia. It was the first one we composed for what would become the album. It was like a test session… we went there to see how it would work with Dave Cobb. We wrote and recorded it in two days, in what was his new studio at the time. It was the beginning of a beautiful partnership that ended up becoming an incredible album.”
He added, "I can't wait for everyone to hear what we're creating."
In an interview with Cutters Rockcast , vocalist Lzzy Hale also commented on the sound of the new project, highlighting a return to the band's roots:
“My bassist said something yesterday that made perfect sense. He said, ‘It’s like a long journey back to the beginning,’ because we all felt, at some point, like we were back in our parents’ basement, struggling to figure out how to write songs that actually worked. The difference now is that we have all this knowledge and experience. It was like the music was guiding us, instead of us trying to force something.”
