GWAR has joined the list of rock and metal bands that will release new albums in 2022 ! The American band announced the album The New Dark Ages , a concept project, for June of this year, accompanied by the release of the comic book titled Gwar In the Duoverse of Absurdity.
The successor to The Blood of Gods (2017), this will be the band's second album without vocalist Oderus Urungus , stage name of Dave Brockie , who died in 2014. In May 2021, the satirical thrash metal band released the acoustic EP The Disc With No Name , featuring versions of highlights from the band's discography, now with The Berseker Blóthar on vocals.
According to Loudwire , the comic book accompanying the release of the new album narrates "the epic battle between GWAR and their doppelgangers from an alternate universe that the band discovers behind their precious Magic Mirror" and will be released on the same day as the new album.
The New Dark Ages will be released on June 3rd by Pit Records. The album will be available on digital platforms and various physical formats, such as CD, cassette tape, and vinyl.
