GWAR announced the release of a new feature-length documentary, This Is GWAR , premiering at Fantastic Fest in Texas.
As reported by Consequence of Sound , next month's Fantastic Fest – running from September 23rd to 30th – will see the premiere of a film that offers a glimpse behind the scenes of the "humans who fought to keep GWAR alive for over 30 years".
Directed by Scott Barber ( Orange Years: The Nickelodeon Story ), This Is GWAR features never-before-seen footage of the late GWAR founder Dave Brockie , also known as Oderus Urungus , as well as interviews with past and present band members.
In addition, other artists, such as Weird Al Yankovic , are also scheduled to appear.
“The story shows all the trials and tribulations the group faced,” commented Bob Gorman , a longtime associate of GWAR, about the film.
"The founders of this band deserve credit, and that perspective is there, but it also follows the story of those who lived with the band and sought to keep it alive for so many years," he said.
The news comes shortly after the release of the group's unplugged EP, called The Disc With No Name , which came out in May.
On the album, there's a simplified version of "Fuck This Place," an expression of the band's contempt for humanity originally featured on their 14th studio album, The Blood Of Gods.
