Guns N' Roses kicked off their series of shows in Brazil with the tour Because What You Want and What You Get Are Two Completely Different Things . The band will perform in São Paulo this Saturday, the 25th, at Allianz Parque, followed by Curitiba (28th), Cuiabá (31st) and Brasília (November 2nd). The shows will feature the opening act by the band Raimundos .
In addition to the band's classics, a new addition to the setlist has been drawing attention: the version of "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath" that Guns N' Roses performed at Black Sabbath 's farewell show on July 5th at Villa Park in Birmingham, UK.
Axl Rose 's band has refined their tribute and has been performing it at shows in Latin America. In a recent interview with Loudwire , guitarist Slash commented on what it was like for Guns N' Roses to be part of Back to the Beginning , where they performed other Black Sabbath covers : "It's Alright," "Never Say Die!" and "Junior's Eyes."
“It was incredible, it was definitely one of those great events where everyone was there for the right reasons. There was a tremendous camaraderie in the production itself, with all the different bands and crew,” Slash said. “So, we got there and it was a demonstration of love and appreciation for Ozzy and Sabbath. Everyone was there because of that… It was truly a memorable and unforgettable occasion. It was the only event like that I’ve been a part of since I got into this business.”
The invitation to Guns N' Roses to participate in Back to the Beginning
When Tom Morello invited Slash, the initial idea was just for him and Duff McKagan to play together. Then Axl Rose became interested in the idea and, when they started rehearsing, Richard Fortus and Isaac Carpenter joined them. Soon, it would be a Guns N' Roses performance.
From this experience came a memorable moment when Slash had the opportunity to introduce Axl to Ozzy Osbourne . The two did not know each other personally, and according to Slash, Ozzy always told him how much he loved Axl.
“Ozzy and I have known each other for a long time and have been friends ever since. It’s not like Ozzy came to Guns N’ Roses shows all the time, but I would get up, play with Ozzy, and see him. But they never crossed paths, so this was the first time. Ozzy saying how much he loved Axl and Axl actually seeing the genuine respect that Ozzy had for him was very important to Axl,” he confessed.
