Guns N' Roses is back with a new song after 13 years, the band's first studio release since the album Chinese Democracy (2008). After the premiere of "Absurd" on the tour , the track arrived on streaming platforms in the early hours of Friday, the 6th.
Although previously unreleased in the band's catalog, "Absurd" is a new version of an unreleased track called "Silkworms," created during the sessions for the group's last album. Production is credited to Axl Rose and Caram Costanzo , while Bryan "Brain" Mantia plays drums.
“Absurd” has already earned a permanent spot on the US tour setlist, right after the cover of “I Wanna Be Your Dog” by The Stooges , which is also a new addition and features Duff McKagan on vocals.
With a hard rock feel reminiscent of tracks like "Double Talkin' Jive" and even "The Garden," the song has abandoned the electronic elements of the version previously known to dedicated fans. The release marks the return of Slash and McKagan to the studio with Guns N' Roses, as both had already left the band at the time the track was created.
The studio version features the visuals used on the tour's screen and depicts a demonic version of the Greek character Medusa. Watch it below.
