Guns N' Roses is officially back with new material. The new song “Perhaps” has an official music video and is available on all streaming platforms this Friday, the 18th, after its initial exclusive release on radio the day before.
The video follows the daily routine of the Guns N' Roses musicians on their current tour, blending scenes of the band on stage with backstage life in a style characteristic of the band's videography, which mixes black and white images with colorful scenes, as in the classic "Paradise City". The music itself also sounds familiar within the band's universe, with Axl Rose becoming more prominent towards the end of the track.
The band followed the current pattern of releasing the music as a surprise, but always with hints for attentive fans about the arrival of new singles, since the songs are included in the tour's soundcheck. Furthermore, last month, Guns N' Roses posted a video on their Instagram stories where it was possible to see the names "Perhaps" and also an unreleased song called "The General," generating speculation about new releases (via Loudwire ).
Slash and Duff McKagan returned to Guns N' Roses in 2016, the band released two new songs: "Absurd" and "Hard Skool ," both recycled from the sessions for the album Chinese Democracy (2008), with the difference being the inclusion of the classic members in the new recordings. The tracks were released on the Hard Skool , which also includes live versions of "Don't Cry," "You're Crazy," and "Shadow Of Your Love."
Now, the expectation is for the release of a new studio album to break the 15-year drought without new releases and celebrate the return of Slash and Duff to the band. According to Tom Mayhue , Guns N' Roses' stage technician, recordings for the new album should begin after the group's European tour. "I know the band will start working on new music. They already have several things recorded," he stated.
