Samael's last album in 2017
Longtime guitarist Marco Rivao has decided to leave Samael "to do something different."
"As some of you know, I've spent the last 16 years playing guitar for Samael. During that time, I've had the chance to meet many lovely people and fans, some of whom have become friends, and so this statement is for all of you.".
I've always been a fan of Passage, Rebellion, and Ceremony of Opposites, and when I received a phone call in 2002 from Samael asking if I would like to join the band, it seemed like an honor and also a chance to make a living from music.
Together, we shared many good times, and I would like to thank you all for making those moments real.
Samael is the story of Vorph and Xy, and I have primarily been a live interpreter for their music, and I would like to thank them as well for offering me this opportunity.
Now it's time for me to do something different, and that's why I'm leaving Samael.
Vorph, Xy, Drop, and all the crew members I've worked with over the years are like family to me, and that's how it should remain.
Thank you again to all of you for making this past few years such an incredible journey with Samael!”
The band's latest album, Hegemony , was released in October 2017 by Napalm Records.
