Bullet For My Valentine guitarist didn't believe in the band's success: "We were lucky"

Michael Paget thought he would have to keep his factory job to support himself.

Michael Paget , guitarist for Bullet For My Valentine , confessed that he didn't believe in the band's success when the group started.

In an interview with The Wikimetal Happy Hour about his seventh album , the Welsh musician recalled his time as an assistant in a poster factory and later with upholstery before signing with a record label.

“I think Michael 'Moose' Thomas [former drummer] and Matt [Tuck , vocalist] imagined, in the beginning, that the band was theirs. They said, 'We're going to be famous! We're going to be a big rock band!', and I said, 'Yeah, right, I'll have to keep my day job and rehearse at night,' you know?” he recounted.

When the contract was finally signed, Paget couldn't even explain to his colleagues when he resigned. "I don't know what it means, but we're going to sign a contract with a record label to record five albums," he announced.

“I didn’t know what to expect, but I think we got a little lucky. Everyone always needs a little luck,” he continued. “We kept our feet on the ground and it’s been an incredible journey. Looking back, I wouldn’t change a thing.”
