Greta Van Fleet has become a household name in the rock scene in recent years, since the resounding success of their album Anthem Of The Peaceful Army , released in 2018. Considered by some to be merely a Led Zeppelin cover band, but praised by their idols themselves, the band from Michigan, USA, seems to be performing for the first time in The Battle at Garden's Gate .
The highly anticipated second studio album from brothers Josh, Jake , and Sam Kiszka, alongside Daniel Wagner , showcases greater maturity and artistic identity, fulfilling the promise of a cinematic album. The atmosphere transforms the previously released singles and creates a truly surprising album.
“[This album] was, in theory, an album we wanted to make from the beginning. But… I don’t know if we thought it would work well initially, as it would work now after having this ongoing narrative or the relationship with all these people around the world through our travels,” Josh revealed back in December 2020 .
In “Tears of Rain,” the group drew inspiration from the favelas of Rio de Janeiro , indicating how experiencing career growth and touring the world impacted the band's creative process and brought more material to the musicians' repertoire.
For anyone who hasn't yet given Greta Van Fleet a chance for whatever reason, the album The Battle at Garden's Gate is the perfect opportunity to change that.
