Love them or hate them, it's impossible to deny Greta Van Fleet in live performances.
This Tuesday, the 4th, the band released another of their performances for the Candlelight Sessions , their intimate sessions by candlelight. The chosen song this time was "Tears of Rain," from the new album The Battle At Garden's Gate , following the performance of "Broken Bells," released at the end of April.
“Tears of Rain” is a moving track that has an unusual connection to Brazil. In an interview with G1 , vocalist Josh Kiszka said that the song was inspired by a culture shock the band experienced when encountering a favela during their visit to Rio de Janeiro.
“I think poverty shocked us,” the singer said. “We didn’t grow up with this poverty, so you process it and think: what is my role? This translates in a natural way. You grow spiritually, you become interested in philosophical ideas, and this translates into art.”
Josh also said that "Tears of Rain" discusses "certain groups of people seeking salvation" and that it comes from a place of empathy for people who find themselves in "less comfortable" situations than the band members.
