In a recent interview, Greta Van Fleet revealed how the band's friendship with Elton John , when he invited them to play at his Oscars party.
During an appearance on Talk Is Jericho , band members Josh Kiszka and Danny Wagner spoke about the call they received from Elton John himself extending the invitation (via Ultimate Guitar ) . “He called us and said, ‘I heard about you guys and I really like what you’re doing, this organic rock 'n’ roll vibe,’” recounts Danny. “He liked the music and basically asked if we’d like to play at his event and if we’d accept. ‘Would you like to play a song with me?’ I don’t remember the whole conversation, I wasn’t really there [laughs].”
The party Danny refers to is an annual charity event hosted by Elton John that raises funds for AIDS research. On that particular occasion, Josh Kiszka recounts that Greta Van Fleet played one of Elton's classics, "Saturday Night's Alright," and Elton John went on stage to play one of the band's songs (not revealed).
