Greta Van Fleet Jake Kiszka and drummer Danny Wagner stated that they mourned for a week following the tragic passing of legendary Eddie Van Halen in October.
“That was a tough day, a tough week,” Jake told Detroit radio station WRIF . “Me and several guitarist friends were texting each other. [Eddie] was an influence on all guitarists. Who didn’t want to play ‘Eruption’ and stuff like that? I remember growing up and him being a huge influence on me. I remember a few years when I listened to Van Halen constantly. But it was pretty brutal. We mourned that loss for, like, a week.”
“We were also in the studio recording one of the tracks for the album [ The Battle At Garden's Gate ] that day as well,” Danny adds. “We were in Los Angeles. So you wake up, find out the news, and then you have to go record a song. There was a strange energy there.”
