Musician battled cancer
Emerson, Lake & Palmer vocalist and bassist Greg Lake passed away yesterday, December 7th, at the age of 69, after a long battle with cancer. The news came from the band's official Twitter account, with a post written by the band's manager, Stewart Young:
"Yesterday, December 7th, I lost my best friend after a long and stubborn battle against cancer.".
Greg Lake will forever remain in my heart, as he always has. His family would appreciate privacy during this time of mourning.
Lake is considered one of the fathers of Progressive Rock, as one of the founders of King Crimson in 1968. His bandmate Carl Palmer posted a statement on Facebook:
"It is with great sadness that I say goodbye to my friend and bandmate, Greg Lake.".
Greg's voice and talent as a musician will be remembered by all who knew his music and the recordings he made with ELP and King Crimson. I have fond memories of those good years we had in 1970 and the many shows we did together.
Losing Keith this year has also made this year very difficult for all of us. As Greg sings at the end of Pictures At An Exhibition, 'death is life'. His music can now live forever in the hearts of all who loved him.”.
