Green Day shared a snippet of an unreleased song on social media, raising hopes that a new album may be on the way. The band's last album was Father Of All Motherfuckers , from 2020.
The post shows the band in a studio in London, England, listening to what appears to be an unreleased song. In the video, we can also see the number 1972 flashing on the screen – which is not random since the three members, Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt , and Tré Cool , were all born in that year.
Rock in Rio has announced that Green Day will headline the show on September 9, 2022. Fall Out Boy, Billy Idol , and Capital Inicial complete the lineup for the Palco Mundo stage, while Avril Lavigne will perform on the Palco Sunset stage. This will be Green Day's first time performing at the Rio festival.
