Among the equipment are the guitar used in Dookie and the burnt drum kit from Tré

Green Day is selling their old instruments to give fans the opportunity to own the equipment.

The pop-punk legends, who are celebrating the 25th anniversary of their album Dookie , have teamed up with the Reverb store. There, they are selling over 100 pieces of equipment used throughout their career.

Nearly 50 of Billie Joe Armstrong are for sale. Tré Cool is selling five drum kits and a dozen snare drums. Most of these instruments were used live or during recordings.

“Every guitar carries a character,” Armstrong said. “Each one reflects who you are – the kind of writer you are, the kind of guitarist you are. Used guitars, in particular, come with a story. I love the character you can see looking at a used one. After 30 years of collecting weird things, old things, and great things, I have to sell some of them.”

Cool said: “If you keep the right things long enough, they call you a collector. So, I’m selling a small part of the collection. It’s not fair to keep everything stored away when someone could be using these things. I’ve never sold anything before – this is the first time. My psychiatrist said I need to do this,” he joked.
