Green Day performed at the opening ceremony of Super Bowl 60 last Sunday, February 8th, at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California. The pop-punk trio played a medley of some of their greatest hits.
The performance took place before the main game and is part of the 60th anniversary celebrations of the Super Bowl, bringing Green Day to the stage in their home region.
The performance began with an instrumental excerpt of “Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life),” accompanied by an orchestral arrangement, while former Super Bowl MVPs were introduced to the audience in the stadium. The number then evolved into a medley that included “Holiday,” as well as shortened versions of “Boulevard of Broken Dreams” and “American Idiot,” all from the album released in 2004.
Unlike recent performances, vocalist Billie Joe Armstrong chose not to sing the adapted line "I'm not part of the MAGA agenda ." The show ended with a direct greeting to the audience, when Armstrong declared: "Welcome to the Bay! It's Super Bowl LX."
