Green Day “lands on Mars” and reveals connection to NASA mission

The InSight Mars lander that arrived on the red planet brought a Green Day souvenir

Green Day "landed on Mars" after the band revealed an unexpected connection to NASA's Insight Mars mission. The mission aims to study the planet's interior.

The lander arrived in the Martian atmosphere on November 26th. Now, it will launch a seismometer and bury a probe in the planet's core. NASA scientists hope to better understand how Mars was formed.

After it was confirmed that the spacecraft had successfully landed on Mars, Green Day used Twitter to reveal a connection to the project. “Officially landed on Mars,” they wrote. “‘Green Day since 1986’ was engraved on a chip on NASA’s InSight, which landed on Elysium Plain today. Extraterrestrial.”
