The US presidential election is in its final day today, November 3rd, and Green Day had a hot idea for a heated contest: serving coffee to voters in long lines at the polls in the band's hometown of Oakland.

The band's coffee company, Oakland Coffee Works , has teamed up with the World Central Kitchen for a project aimed at making the voting experience, especially as autumn falls in the Northern Hemisphere, much more pleasant, encouraging voters to show up at the polls. “We need to take care of ourselves and support each other out there. You know how important your vote is. We want to make it a little easier for everyone, so we’re donating 10,000 cups of coffee to voters in the Oakland polling station lines,” says bassist Mike Dirnt .

The project does not aim to endorse any of the candidates in the race, but Green Day had already announced, along with big names such as Alex Skolnick, Amy Lee, Serj Tankian and many others, their support for Democratic candidate Joe Biden .
