During a performance at Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve, Green Day altered the lyrics of "American Idiot" to criticize conservative movements.

Instead of singing “I'm not a part of a redneck agenda,” Billie Joe Armstrong sang “I'm not a part of the MAGA agenda.”

This is an acronym for the conservative movement "Make America Great Again," closely associated with former President Donald Trump , whom Green Day is known to oppose.

The group received criticism from a segment of the public, including Elon Musk , who commented on his X , formerly Twitter: "Green Day goes from rage against the machine to rage for the machine" ( via Rádio Rock ).
