Read Vinnie Paul's statement.

In an interview with an American radio station, drummer Vinnie Paul reminisced about the time of recording "The Great Southern Trendkill," which this year released a 20th-anniversary commemorative edition:

Enter to win a Pantera guitar.

“I don’t dwell on the past much, so it had been a while since I’d listened to it. And it was a really crazy album for Pantera. I mean, it was the most chaotic, disorganized, challenging album we’ve ever done, as far as I can remember, after remastering and working on everything that was there. That being said, it came out in 1996 when Rap Metal was growing, and the president of the record label called us saying, ‘Hey, you guys need to start putting rap on the album, put rap in.’ And we kind of laughed and said, ‘Yeah, let’s do it right now.’ And anyway, the album ended up being like a big middle finger to the music industry at the time, and I think it really did that.”
