Grandma and drum teacher Dorothea Taylor posted a video covering Disturbed .
Beyond the precise execution of the cover, Taylor conveyed an important message about diversity. The music video shows the prejudice that exists because of one's appearance.
Although the scenes are choreographed, Grandma Taylor says she has experienced numerous similar situations throughout her life:
"I've played drums my whole life. And each of these situations actually happened to me."
"There are drummers of all ages, sizes, shapes, and ethnicities. And it doesn't matter how good you are or how old you are. You're still part of the drumming family."
Grandma Taylor concludes: “So remember to never judge a drummer—or anyone—by their appearance. And always, always share your passion for drumming with the world.”
The video description invites everyone to reflect:
“Have you ever been in a situation where you jumped to conclusions about people before you even met them? Or before you saw them play the drums?... Dorothea Taylor has heard it all about judging a book by its cover.”
