Yesterday, the 14th, the biggest party in the music world took place: the Grammy . The awards, which celebrate the biggest names in various musical genres, didn't leave heavy metal out, and chose the winner of the "Best Metal Performance" category of the year.
Beating out Code Orange with “Underneath”, In This Moment with “The In-Between”, Poppy with “Bloodmoney” and Power Trip with “Executioner's Tax (Swing Of The Axe) Live”, the winner of the category was Body Count , with the song “Bum-Rush”, which is part of the band's 2020 album, Carnivore .
The award earned legendary Body Count frontman Ice-T his first Grammy in 30 years, winning the "Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group" category with "Back on the Block," alongside Quincy Jones, Big Daddy Kane, Kool Moe Dee, Melle Mel, and Quincy Jones III . The artist emotionally accepted the award via video call at the ceremony and also took the opportunity to dedicate the award to the late Power Trip vocalist, Riley Gale .
