Producer comments on technical glitch

Grammy producer Ken Ehrlich spoke to the Associated Press about the technical problem Metallica faced during the show, when James Hetfield's microphone malfunctioned. Ehrlich said he was very upset about what happened and apologized to the band.

"It's awful when these things happen. It's one of the risks of live TV. My guys told me the cable was plugged in. My theory is that one of the extras on stage accidentally kicked the cable leading to the microphone.".

"Obviously, we apologize.".

Ehrlich said he had worked with the band several times and that this type of accident upset him personally: "You get very hurt."

In an interview on James Corden's show yesterday, drummer Lars Ulrich said that James Hetfield was furious about the problem.
