Grammy organizers announced the elimination of the "secret" committees that select nominated works, following criticism from artists and accusations of manipulation.

Decisions that were previously made by a panel of 15 to 30 experts whose identities were unknown will now be made by its more than 11,000 members. The change will take effect starting with the 2022 edition.

The Recording Academy stated that the “significant changes” reflect its “ongoing commitment to evolving with the music landscape and ensuring that the Grammy Awards rules and guidelines are transparent and fair.”.

In its statement, the organization also revealed that it will create two new categories, one of them specifically for Latin music.

The changes come after singer The Weeknd and other music personalities accused the Grammy organizers of corruption.
