Following speculation about a possible postponement 2022 Grammy Awards ceremony due to the advancement of the Omicron variant, the Academy officially announced this Wednesday, the 5th, that the event will be held on another date.

The 64th Grammy Awards Show was scheduled to take place on January 31st, but was previously canceled in 2020 due to the start of the pandemic. According to a message from the Academy, a new date has not yet been set, but should be announced "soon".

“After much consideration and careful analysis with city and state officials, health and safety experts, the artistic community, and several of our partners, the Academy and CBS have decided to postpone the 64th Annual Grammy Awards,” the statement said. “The health and safety of those in our music community, the audience in attendance, and the hundreds of people who work tirelessly to produce our show remain our top priority.”

“Due to the uncertainties regarding the Omicron variant, holding the event on January 31st is too risky. We look forward to celebrating Music's Greatest Night at a future date, which will be announced soon.”
