Gord Lewis , guitarist and co-founder of Teenage Head , was found dead at his home last weekend. According to the Toronto Sun , the musician's son, Jonathan Lewis, has been charged with second-degree murder.
As reported by The Spectator , the shocking tragedy was discovered because several media outlets received emails on Saturday from two different accounts bearing the name Jonathan Lewis. One of them, sent on Sunday morning, read: “Funeral people need to arrive soon. My father is starting to decompose.”
According to the report, an employee of The Spectator then called the police to check on Gord Lewis's well-being, and the musician was found dead on Sunday, August 7th, in his apartment in Ontario, Canada. The police report stated that the injuries indicated the presence of "crime" and the case was declared a homicide.
Initially, the police reportedly had difficulty identifying the body due to its advanced state of decomposition, which also prevents an exact date of death from being confirmed – police speculation is that the crime occurred two or three days before the body was found.
On the morning of Tuesday, the 9th, the Toronto Sun confirmed the victim's identity as Gord Lewis, and revealed that his 41-year-old son, Jonathan Lewis, was charged with second-degree murder, meaning the crime was likely intentional but not premeditated.
Teenage Head
Gord Lewis was one of the founders of the Canadian punk band Teenage Head, formed in 1975. The group enjoyed a wave of success in their home country in the 1980s and remained active even after the death of member Frankie Venom in 2008. A follow-up show was scheduled for September, according to Loudwire .
On their Facebook , the band wrote: “We are devastated and trying to process the loss of our friend, bandmate and brother, Gord Lewis. Our hearts are with his family and all those who knew and loved him. Gord was a force and an inspiration to many. You were taken from us far too soon.”
