Gojira drummer Mario Duplantier stated that fans of the band can expect a new album in 2026. According to him, some drum, guitar, and bass recordings have already taken place. Their last album is Fortitude (2021).
In an interview with Bloodstock TV , Duplantier explained that it took time to ensure everyone in the band was thinking the same way. The Frenchman also stated that he felt no pressure to release the album and cited the fact that his group is approaching three decades in the music industry.
“We needed this time, I think, just to make sure we were all on the same page. It’s essential that the material is strong. Besides, we don’t have as much pressure and we’re not a young band anymore. In bands like Sleep Token and Lorna Shore , the next album is important. We have almost thirty years of career, so Gojira is already established. But that doesn’t mean we should be lazy. It’s crucial to have time to create something new, original and powerful,” he stated [transcription via Blabbermouth ].
According to him, Gojira wanted the new album to reach a high level of excellence, which justifies another five-year hiatus without new music. He assured that the new work is on its way and guaranteed its release for 2026.
"For the new songs, we took so long just to make sure everything was perfect, powerful, and even intelligent too. But it's on its way. 2026, for sure," he concluded.
