Godsmack releases their final album; listen to 'Lighting Up The Sky'.

The news came accompanied by the music video for "Soul On Fire".

Godsmack released , Lighting Up The Sky BMG this Friday, the 24th . The project, which already included the singles " Surrender " and "You And I," also came with the music video for "Soul On Fire."

In an interview with Wikimetal in January, drummer Shannon Larkin spoke about the decision to say goodbye to the studios after 25 years: “You end up getting into a pattern of making an album, tour, break, album, tour and break for a few decades. And we felt that, even though certain fans might like to hear new music and new albums, the truth and proof is that when we're doing a show, when you play a new song, that's the moment when people go out to buy a beer or use the bathroom.”

Previously, in a press release, vocalist and producer Sully Erna had shared some details about the album's concept: “I like it when an album takes you on a journey from beginning to end. I realized there's a whole story here about a man's journey, the highs and lows. I believe it's a story everyone will connect with, on a human level, because we all go through things in life. The album explores the meeting of a boy and a girl, obstacles in relationships, the polarized political climate and the state of the world, betrayal, connection, reunions, and more. It also touches on the idea of the legacy we leave behind.”

The new album marked the longest gap between two original works by Godsmack, since When Legends Rise (2018) was released five years ago.

Even while taking time to enjoy family and achievements, the heavy metal band always intends to continue touring.
