In an interview with Wikimetal Happy Hour , Max Cavalera spoke with Nando Machado about the debut album of Go Ahead And Die , a side project of the singer and guitarist with his son, Igor Cavalera .

The self-titled album arrived in June with 11 tracks and a total of 43 minutes of heaviness. During the conversation, Cavalera named some Brazilian influences such as Olho Seco, Ratos de Porão , and Cólera .

“In terms of sound, what I wanted to do with Go Ahead And Die is that the guy who bought [the album] got home and listened to it – the feeling I wanted him to have was 'I feel like this album has been in my collection since '87, but it only came out last week',” says Max. “The way it was made is very analog, without a click track. Very raw, angry, and unpolished.”

The musician also described the album as “a return to [his] roots” and recounted a tape he bought when he was younger containing Discharge Hear Nothing See Nothing Say Nothing on Side A and Hellhammer 's Apocalyptic Raids on Side B. “I didn't know what the guys looked like. One had a mohawk and the other had long hair – I didn't know, I just liked the sound,” he recalled. “I never understood why these two universes were separate – let's bring them together.” Listen to Go Ahead And Die on all major digital platforms .
