Glenn Hughes says he will no longer make rock albums: "Nobody buys albums anymore."

The musician explains that he has no plans to make another studio album to follow up 'Chosen', his last album.

Glenn Hughes has confirmed that he currently has no plans to make another studio album to follow up Chosen , his last album, released on September 5, 2025 by Frontiers Music Srl , marking the artist's first solo album in nine years, since Resonate (2016).

In an interview with Chaoszine , the bassist and vocalist explained his reasons for not wanting to release any more albums:

“I don’t think I’ll make another rock album. You know why? Nobody buys albums anymore… I’m talking generally. You buy them, people like you, sure, but generally, nobody buys them. Nobody buys them. I write these things, I record them, I do a lot of interviews, and then the album is released. It’s great. It gets on the charts in the first week and then it’s like, it’s over. I’m laughing because I’m like, ‘What… what the hell is this?’”

“You know, it’s the same for everyone. It’s not just me. Everyone… you see. It’s not just me. I have to ask myself: Is it me? No. I look at The Darkness , my friends, and everyone else. My friends say it’s like… new albums now are like ‘entrances and exits.’ But I’m very happy with Chosen . If it’s Glenn’s last rock album, I think it’s a great way to end it,” the musician confessed.

Glenn intends to release music independently and no longer work with traditional record labels: “Yes, I mean, there have been conversations about that. I could do it myself because I have a great team with me. At the moment, I don't have plans to make another album—but I will, I believe I will. What I'm composing at the moment isn't rock, but it's not pure black music either. I love doing that kind of thing, but I'm not black—I'm white, and most of my fans are white too.”
