Glenn Hughes spoke about how the music industry has changed in the five and a half decades since he launched his career in the mid-1970s. The artist is preparing to release his new album 'Chosen' on September 5th via Frontiers Music Srl . The work marks the artist's first solo album in nine years, since Resonate (2016).
In a new interview with the Brudne Brzmienie , Hughes criticized today's record labels [transcription via Blabbermouth ]: “There’s no such thing as a music industry anymore. It’s not the same thing. It’s simply not the same world. Where I came from, all those years ago, it’s completely changed. Record labels are a waste of time. The people who work at record labels don’t have the slightest idea what they’re doing, musically speaking. They may think they’re great at business, but I don’t think so. So, it’s simply a different, different, different field to work in. And it’s very difficult for new young artists—very difficult.”
Regarding needing to re-enter the music industry's rules to remain relevant in today's music world, Glenn responded: “Do I feel like I need to follow the rules again? No. No, and I say this with all gratitude for being at a point in my life where I don't need to worry too much about anything , because I've already done practically everything I wanted to do as a child. All I still want to do is compose, do some shows, and have fun. And I'm not letting myself be swayed by anything other than playing music today, right now, at this very moment.”

Chosen promises to be an album that reflects the soul and life experience of Glenn Hughes. The artist himself described the songwriting process as "deeply personal," revealing that he only writes and records when he has something meaningful to say.
“While writing Chosen , I returned to my life’s drawing board, writing about the human condition, love, hope, faith, and acceptance,” Hughes said in a press release.
This new work presents Glenn Hughes in his most "hard rockin'" form, an explosive album that showcases him at his peak, both in terms of songwriting and production.
Glenn Hughes will be performing on South American stages in an unmissable farewell tour with 11 shows. The tour will visit five Brazilian cities, as well as Argentina, Chile, and Colombia.
In Brazil, fans will be able to see Hughes perform in Porto Alegre, Belo Horizonte, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, and Curitiba. Specifically, in São Paulo, the show will be on Sunday, November 16, 2025, at Vip Station.
