Last Thursday, the 13th, during a show on The Chosen Years tour in Belo Horizonte, Glenn Hughes fell ill and was unable to finish his performance. The series of shows began last Tuesday, the 11th, in Porto Alegre. The artist still has dates scheduled in Rio de Janeiro (Circo Voador, 11/14), São Paulo (VIP Station, 11/16) and Curitiba (Tork n' Roll, 11/18).

The bassist and vocalist is 74 years old and returned to Brazil for the second time this year, after performing at Bangers Open Air in May.

According to the audience present at the Mister Rock concert venue, Hughes left the stage during the fifth song of the setlist, "Can't Stop The Flood". Shortly after, the Englishman reportedly returned and claimed to have suffered from dehydration. Hughes claimed to have drunk little water and consumed a lot of coffee throughout the day, in addition to feeling the effects of the heat in the capital of Minas Gerais – where thermometers registered around 30°C in the afternoon [ via Igor Miranda ].

The artist reportedly tried to continue the show with "First Step of Love," from the Hughes/Thrall , but felt unwell again and had to leave the stage for good. The audience waited for about half an hour while the crew assessed the situation and, given the musician's condition, were informed that Glenn was unable to continue.

The backing band stayed and played a few tracks, this time with a roadie on bass and Guzz from Electric Gypsy on vocals. The Brazilian band is responsible for opening the tour.

Glenn Hughes' tour in Brazil is still on, says production company.

In a statement, the production company Dark Dimensions , responsible for the shows, said:

“Dark Dimensions informs that, during tonight's show at Mister Rock in Belo Horizonte, musician Glenn Hughes, 74, felt unwell near the end of the performance. The artist presented with dehydration and, on medical advice, was unable to return to the stage to perform the final four songs in his set. Glenn Hughes is now well, recovering at the hotel, and continues to be monitored by his medical team. The priority at this time is to ensure he gets adequate rest, and we confirm that the tour will proceed as scheduled on the upcoming dates. Dark Dimensions thanks the audience for their understanding and all the support received.”
