The band invited Gilby Clarke to play on the Not in This Lifetime Tour.
Guns N' Roses guitarist Gilby Clarke said he was invited to join the Not In This Lifetime . Unfortunately, the musician said he had to decline.
Clarke replaced original guitarist Izzy Stradlin in 1991 during the Use Your Illusion Tour . He remained in the band for three years. After that, he continued as a solo artist and producer while playing with Slash's Snakepit , Rock Star Supernova , Heart , and other bands.
SiriusXM radio program if he still speaks to the band members, Clarke replied: “Actually, we haven’t spoken anymore. I ran into them yesterday, actually. They were rehearsing and I was getting my equipment. We were in the same place.”
Clarke confirmed that the meeting was cordial. "Oh, absolutely," he said. "I mean, I'm still good with Axl ; I'm still good with everyone. I don't have any hard feelings or anything."
Regarding the Not In This Lifetime Tour , Gilby commented, "They called me as soon as it started," but he had to decline. "My daughter, Frankie, has a band ( Frankie + The Studs ). They called me to play on the same day my daughter was going to play at Lollapalooza. I had to be there with her; I couldn't leave her there and go play with the guys."
Gilby said he's still open to the idea of playing with Guns N' Roses again. "I have nothing against them, it just didn't work out for me at that time."
