The album does not yet have a release date.

The band Ghost will release their fourth studio album in the second half of 2018. The album, still without a title, follows Meliora (2015) and was recorded in Stockholm, Sweden with producer Tom Dalgety.

In an interview with Revolver, frontman Tobias Forge, better known as Papa Emeritus, spoke about the album: “It’s based on the theme of death and darkness. Its theme is basically the Middle Ages with a mix of current issues.”

The musician also spoke about the direction the band's new material will take, saying it will be a heavy album, "Technically a Ghost song could just have keyboards and vocals, but it can also be very strong in the Metal style. I'm not the only one making this comparison, but I think our way of doing things is similar to Queen's. We decided to play good music and we don't follow a recipe."

The new frontman, Papa Emeritus Zero, was introduced to fans during a show in Gothenburg , Sweden, when Emeritus III was escorted offstage by security. A few seconds later, two other security guards accompanied the new member to the front of the stage.

Despite the change, the vocalist remains the same, Tobias Forge; only his persona is different.
