Ghost Chapter is a web series on Ghost . In chapter 21, titled "Is Someone Feeling Psalty?", released on May 16th, Papa Emeritus IV , vocalist until 2024, asks if he can get an audience with the current frontman, Papa V Perpetua . He receives the answer that he can only get a date in December 2026.

To understand this enigma and what this possible meeting of popes means, it is necessary to delve into the Ghostverse .

Where did Ghost Chapter come from?

Ghost, as most fans already know, is a band that goes beyond music. It's an aesthetic visual with a storyline for each album. For those who are truly followers of the extra-musical universe, they have a YouTube series with random chapters released from time to time.

This series began in 2018, coinciding with the release of Prequelle , their fourth studio album. In the ninth installment, the live streams began to be broadcast via Doom, a play on the name Zoom, the live streaming platform. After the release of Rite Here, Rite Now in 2024, some of the film's characters became part of these videos on the Ghostverse YouTube channel.

A date for December 2026

The May 16 video shows Pope Emeritus IV conversing with Mr. Psaltarian – one of the characters from the film Rite Here, Rite Now – requesting a meeting with Pope Perpetua V. Psaltarian says he has an opening in December 2026, and this seems quite specific, as at some points they emphasize the month and year of the potential meeting.

However, nothing beyond the conversation has been revealed. But it was enough for speculation and various fan theories to start circulating on social media about the possibility of a meeting between the vocalists from different eras of Ghost. And considering Tobias Forge's creative mind, it wouldn't be too difficult to believe this possibility.

'Skeletá' at the top of the charts

While 2026 hasn't arrived yet and this enigma remains speculation, Skeletá , their most recent album, released at the end of April 2025, became the first rock album to reach number one on the Billboard 200 chart since AC/DC's Power Up in 2020 .

In more impressive numbers since its release, the album, according to Metal Injection , sold 86,000 units in its first week. This is quite remarkable considering that 77,000 of those units were physical sales. Surprisingly, 44,000 of those were vinyl sales.

Skeletá also reached number one on the album charts, including vinyl albums, independent store albums, rock, alternative rock, and hard rock albums in the US.

Internationally, the album debuted at number one in Sweden, Germany, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Switzerland, and Finland. However, it reached number two in the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Norway. It reached number four in France and number six in Ireland.
