Ghost recently introduced its new character, Cardinal Copia.
Tobias Forge , vocalist of Ghost , spoke in an interview with Metal Hammer about why the band abandoned the Papa Emeritus persona and replaced it with Cardinal Copia. “I’ve always tried to make things difficult for myself,” he says about creating each frontman's persona. “Instead of just making big, forceful commercial statements, I’m trying to do things in a more cinematic way.”
He continues: “If we kept going from Papa to Papa to Papa, it would get very boring. That’s a one-dimensional way of looking at this band. If I had just done that, Ghost would have gone on autopilot and would have gotten old very quickly.”
The band's new album, Prequelle , will be released on June 1st.
