Even though the album was finished in 2020, Ghost doesn't want to compete with the American elections
After initially indicating a 2020 release for the new album, Ghost has now suggested that 2021 is more likely.
In February, vocalist Tobias Forge suggested that the successor to Prequelle would arrive in 2020. In a new interview, however, he changed his mind.
“I will actually start recording in January 2020,” he said. “It should take me about six months to finish. With a break and some fine-tuning, the album should be ready in the second half of the year.”
Forge continued: “Unfortunately or fortunately, depending on how you look at it, the US elections are going to happen. It’s not the best time to release new material since people’s minds are focused on other things. I just want to make sure that when we release it, we get people’s attention.”
"At the beginning of 2021, I would say, you will have the next chapter in the Ghost story," he concluded.
