Instagram post , Ghost announced that the successor to Frater Imperator (former Papa Emeritus IV ) is on the way.
Keen-eyed fans had been speculating about the news ever since Black Sabbath 's farewell show , where the lineup included Papa V Perpetua . Now, Ghost's official account has confirmed the news, with the caption: "We'd like to inform you that V is coming... to Birmingham on July 5th."
No further details about the new pope have yet been revealed, such as his appearance, generating even more curiosity among the band's followers. Furthermore, judging by the chosen name, could this be the last change of popes? Fans will have to wait for more information.
Tobias Forge , the mastermind and vocalist of Ghost, usually creates new popes (and kills them off) for each of the band's albums. The only one who remained for more than one album was Papa Emeritus IV, who became a fan favorite and didn't suffer the same bloody fate as his predecessors.
Black Sabbath will perform on July 5th at Villa Park in Birmingham.
