The new leader of Ghost is called Cardinal Copia
In a new video, Ghost introduces its new leader, Cardinal Copia. In the video, which can be watched below, the new leader meets with Papa Emeritus Zero and Sister Imperator.
The last one, Papa Emeritus III, was forcibly removed from the stage during the final show of the Meliora , with Papa Zero arriving to announce the beginning of the Middle Ages. Of course, all the popes – except the oldest Zero – are the same man, Ghost founder and vocalist Tobias Forge.
Forge's new alter ego will make its live debut on May 5th, as the Swedish band kicks off a series of shows in North America.
Forge spoke to Revolver about the upcoming album: “It’s loosely thematic around the concept of death and destruction. It’s a thematic album around medieval times, but it’s definitely clinging to a lot of current things. The Black Death is a great example of a turning point for an entire civilization. Most people knew very little, so it was all God or the Devil – and about their faith being questioned: why are we being struck by this great scourge? It must be because we don’t fear God enough and all that superstitious nonsense.”
The band is expected to release new work in June.
