Ghost reached the number one spot on the US best-selling albums chart for the first time with Impera , released on March 11th , becoming the best-selling album in a single week of 2022.
According to Billboard , 62,500 copies of the album were sold up to March 17th, earning the band their first-ever number one spot on the Top Album Sales , a position Ghost has held three other times in their career.
This chart only considers traditional album sales, excluding streaming. Impera surpassed all other releases this year, achieving the best rock sales since the release of Medicine at Midnight by Foo Fighters .
In vinyl sales alone, 28,000 copies were sold in the first week, the highest number of sales for a rock album since the release of Paul McCartney 's III , which sold 32,000 copies in January 2021.
Finally, the album became Ghost's best-selling album in a single week, surpassing the 61,500 copies sold in the first week of the release of Prequelle (2018).
Currently, Ghost's new album is number one on several of the magazine's charts: Top Rock Albums, Top Hard Rock Albums, Independent Albums, Vinyl Albums, Tastemaker Albums , and Top Current Album Sales .
